Dr. Audra Rickman, DVM Practice Owner

Dr. Audra Rickman graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Animal Science and a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She has lived in Southport since 1996 with her husband Tommy. They have two children: Grace, an avid softball player, and Bailey, a classical music fanatic. They have a sweet English Setter named Lucy. Dr. Audra loves Broadway musicals, traveling, and cooking.

Dr. Genevieve Adamson, DVM Medical Director

Dr. Jessica Burns, DVM

Dr. Burns was born in Connecticut, moved to NC in 2002. Dr Burns graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in meteorology in 2015, then a Masters in Marine Biology from University of South Carolina in 2017 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Atlantic Veterinary College in 2023. Dr. Burns is recently engaged to her fiance of 9 years and has 2 dogs and 1 cat. In her free time she loves to hang out on the beach.

Dr. Ann Edmonds, DVM

Dr. Edmonds grew up on a farm in west Tennessee. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee Veterinary school, she and her husband moved to Forest Lake, MN. While in MN, Dr. Edmonds enjoyed a variety of veterinary opportunities including general practice in large and small animals, shelter medicine, and teaching in a veterinary technology program. Now that she is in Southport, she enjoys the warmer climate and spending time with her husband and 2 dogs.

Amanda Barnhill, Office Manager

Amanda was born and raised in Brunswick County. She's been married to her husband since 2008 and has 3 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Amanda has been with Four Paws since January 2018. She is certified and trained through Oncura to image for Ultrasounds and Echocardiograms that are submitted to board certified radiologist and cardiologist. When not working, Amanda enjoys time with her family.

Mary Fraser, Lead Receptionist and Inventory Manager

Mary, also known as "Mary B" to the Four Paws family, was born and raised in Edgecombe County then moved to Brunswick County in 2019. Mary has been with Four Paws since June of 2022. She has been married to her husband, Kevin since 2022, they have 3 kids and 4 dogs. Mary is a certified pharmacy technician. When not working, Mary like to watch her youngest daughter play lacrosse, spend time with family and watch football.

Kate Jones, Veterinary Assistant

Kate moved to Brunswick County in 2006 at age 5 from Durant, Oklahoma. Kate graduated from her Veterinary Assistant program in 2018. She lives on a farm with 4 horses, 38 chickens, 4 cats, a Blue Healer Sadie and a hound named Jake. She has been with Four Paws Animal Hospital since August of 2020, When Kate is not at Four Paws, she is sitting on her back porch spending time with her family. 

Mary Wilson, Receptionist

Mary has lived in Brunswick County for 44 years, she has been with Four Paws since 2016. Mary has 1 son and a grandson, a horse named "Sassy" and a dog named "Willow". Mary spends her time here at Four Paws in what we loving call "Mary's Nook" where she works on answering phones, scheduling appointments and processing online prescriptions for clients. 

Shelby Babb, Assistant 

Shelby was born in Halifax County, NC and moved to Brunswick County in 2007. She has been with us since March of 2021. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her three dogs, a Great Dane named Blue, a hound rescue named Bobo, and a sweet little yellow lab named Honey aka "Honey Badger"

Madison Stein, Assistant

Madison is a Wilmington NC native. She started with Four Paws in August of 2024. She has 5 years experience working with pets. Madison has a associates degree in Fine Arts, lives with her fiance and 2 dogs in Leland. She enjoys hiking trails and the outdoors when she's not working.

Alexia Bernard, Receptionist and Assistant

Alexia was born and raised in Brunswick County, she started at Four Paws in April of 2024. Alexia has an associates degree in art from Brunswick Community College, and is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program with San Juan College. Alexia loves to learn about animals and the science of medicine for fuzzy four legged companions. She spends her free time painting, drawing, catching up on TV series.

Taylor Lowry, Receptionist and Assistant 

Taylor is the 3rd generation of her family to work for Four Paws. She started at the age of 14 in 2019. Taylor is currently enrolled at Cape Fear Community College in the Veterinary Technology program. She loves animals of all variety and looks forward to completing her degree.
